Ephesians 4:29 says, “Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification, according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.”
The verse does not say, “Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth unless you are really upset and feel like venting.”
The verse does not say, “Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth except when you want to make sure others know how angry you are.”
The verse does not say, “Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth unless it will help you win your argument.”
The verse does not say, “Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth except in situations where it will help you fit in better.”
The verse does not say, “Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth except when a lie is the easiest way out of a dilemma.”
The verse does not say, “Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth unless others do not seem to appreciate your accomplishments or how great you are!”
The verse does not say, “Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth unless revealing that secret will make you look ‘in the know.’”
The verse does not say, “Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth unless you think you can make yourself look comparatively bigger by cutting someone else down.”
You get the idea. “Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth. . .”
