God in Human Terms
God is spirit (John 4:24). He has no physical form. When Bible writers attribute physical characteristics to Him, they do so to help us understand His interaction with us.
God’s eyes are toward the righteous, watching over them, and His ears are open to their cry (Psalm 34:15). His mouth speaks life-giving words (Deuteronomy 8:3). He saves with His hand (Isaiah 59:1) and redeems with His arm (Exodus 6:6). Even His finger is powerful! (Exodus 8:19). He smells our sacrifices (Philippians 4:18).
On the other hand, His face is against evildoers (Psalm 34:16). His lips are filled with indignation, His tongue is a consuming fire, and His breath is an overflowing torrent (Isaiah 30:27). He makes His enemies a footstool for His feet (Psalm 110:1).
Is your heart guided by His?
